Arie Trouw - Founder, CEO, CTO
The one man who dreams solely in XY Finder beeps and floating binary code.
Ten years before Elon Musk wrote his
first line of computer code, another young engineer in South Africa was busy
on his TRS-80 Model I. In 1978, at the age of 10, Arie Trouw started developing
software on the
TRS-80 Model I, moving on to Atari, Apple, and PC. He then ran a series of
bulletin boards centering on
Arie is an accomplished serial entrepreneur with a rich history of technological
business successes involving multiple 8-figure exit events. He is a strong
believer in decentralization
and the creation of the integrated owner/user model. Arie founded XY in 2012
(incorporated as Ength
Degree, LLC before it was converted to a C Corporation in 2016) and is
of the XYO Network, later becoming a leader of the XYO Foundation.
He currently serves as Chief Executive Officer, Chief Technology Officer and
Chairman of the Board of Directors. Prior to starting XY - The Persistent
Company, Arie was CEO and
Chairman of Pike Holdings (later sterkly, LLC).
He received his Bachelor of Science in Computer
Science from the New
York Institute of Technology. Fun Fact: He is a member of one of the first
Afrikaans speaking families
to emigrate to the US from South Africa in 1976.
Markus has over 15 years experience in building, managing and growing
companies around the
globe. Markus is originally from Germany (with English as his second language),
and specializes in
getting the most out of companies by implementing data-driven systems and
utilizing the key talents
of each employee to get the best out of his team.
After dropping out of his Ph.D. studies at Bocconi University, Markus began
working with companies in
hyper-growth industries globally. Markus has led cutting-edge technology
ventures such as
Novacore, 'sterkly', Hive Media and Koiyo.

Christine Sako – Head of
Internal Operations and BI
"If something is impossible, Christine will have it done in 5 mins" - Markus
Christine has an extensive background in Mathematics and has worked in upper
management for over 8 years. She specializes in data structuring and analysis to
help XY monitor the health of its business and make critical operational
decisions. Data-centric and obsessed with organization, she also makes sure the
day-to-day operations of the company run smoothly and facilitates many of the
finance, sales, and investment-related endeavors."
She moved to sunny San Diego to escape the Midwest tundra in 2012 after
graduating with a Bachelors of Science in Mathematics from the University of
Minnesota, Twin Cities. Christine is also a local musician and can be seen
playing around San Diego in board shorts and a tank-top.
Fun fact: Her nicknamed job title is ""Head of Context,"" as she somehow seems
knows more about every situation than any normal person should.

Maryann Cummings – Product
Maryann kicks ass and takes names… and then tracks them with an XY Finder
Maryann is XY’s longest-tenured employee, except for Arie, himself. She started
on the Webble project in 2015, and now works as a product manager on the
development team. The only things she loves as much as XY are Disney and all
John joined XYO as Head of Innovation in late 2018, bringing with him a strong
background in product and technology. He is a self-taught developer who started
programming in his early teens and has been at it ever since. He has served as
CTO and CPO for several tech companies and has extensive experience running R&D
departments responsible for creating products that have been exposed to millions
of users around the world.
John is running our innovation center, XY Labs, in North County, San Diego along
with Joe Bader and Ryan Hansen.

Sr. Software Engineer
Ryan Hansen – Sr. Software
Ryan codes 24 / 7. His brain codes during the day... and his beard codes during
Ryan began coding Java in his AP Computer Science course in High School and
throughout college. After graduation, he began focusing on web technologies as
it enabled him to distribute the software he was creating to a wider audience.
Prior to starting at XY, Ryan built a static merchandising site generator for
professional athletes. The most noteworthy athletes including Richard Sherman,
Odell Beckham Jr, Shannon Sharpe, and Barry Sanders.

and finding new tools to improve development workflows and user experience. With
his deep full stack knowledge he adapts quickly and solves challenges
effectively. Ryan is eager to tackle the problems that new technology inevitably
brings and is excited to pioneer this trail with the XY Team!
Phillip Lorenzo – Technical

Phillip Lorenzo is an enthusiastic learner who enjoys working on projects that
help in making life easier. He is the current technical writer at XYO, where he
brings in years of creative content writing. He is also an occasional technical
content contributor for FixateIO, where he has contributed content for Oracle,
Twistlock, Amberdata, and SumoLogic.
Before starting his career in software in 2017 through self-learning, he worked
many years in the arts nonprofit sector where he served as Managing Director of
Pacific Arts Movement, the parent organization of the San Diego Asian Film
Festival and as Exhibitions Director for the Media Arts Center San Diego, the
parent organization of the San Diego Latino Film Festival. He has also consulted
with the Center For Asian American Media and Frameline.
While learning to code, he was part of a team of two that won 2 hackathons for
Facebook Community Circles for a messenger chatbot app. The chatbot, named
AlliBot, was a chatbot intended to help underserved communities get into tech
jobs, find mentors, and attend events. He continues to work on his full stack
development skills, and is passionate about the decentralized future. He has
also live coded simple dApps as a presentation.
Jessica Robson – Operations
If you’ve got an email from Jessica… chances are you spelled your own address
(or name 🤦♀️) wrong.
As operations associate, Jessica is excited to work on a variety of different
projects at XYO. Her main goal is to help Christine be less stressed out, but
that will probably never happen.
Jessica graduated from Occidental College in Los Angeles, where she majored in
mathematics and economics, broke all of the school’s diving team records, and
fell in love with Southern California. She realized that San Diego has all the
good parts of LA (without the traffic or crazy people) and moved here about four
years ago. In her spare time, Jessica can be found going out to eat, shopping,
or planning happy hours for her alumnae group.
Jeromy Green – Marketing
Your friendly neighborhood Mining-Man!
Jeromy is a professional Skateboarder known for his unique style and trick
selection. Jeromy has invented tricks in skateboarding, including the gainer
caveman. In late 2018, Jeromy became one of 18 people to successfully roll away
from Tony Hawks loop of death.
Jeromy has always loved new technology/gadgets. He initially became part of the
XYO family through a brand ambassador sponsorship in August of 2018. Towards the
end of 2018, he joined the marketing department of XYO, bringing his
enthusiastic outlook and marketing knowledge/experience that he has learned
through marketing himself as an athlete.

Tyler Hill – Head of
XY's resident 80's glam-rocker.
Tyler is devoted to creating an exceptional and entirely convenient approach to
our Customer Experience team with his genuine and easily excitable positivity.
His initial exposure to XYO occurred at the first annual Spatial event where he
fell in love with the vision and culture of the company and wanted nothing more
than his own involvement. He strives to learn as much as possible and become a
great mentor for XYO.
In his free time, you can find Tyler long-boarding San Diego boardwalks or
hitting up ski resorts
Marketing Operations Specialist
Jordan Trouw – Marketing
Brings Real Attitude (to the) Team
Jordan has worn nearly every hat at XY. She's been working at XY each summer
since 2015, and started full-time in 2018! During that time, she's been involved
with helping the Customer Experience Team, Fulfillment, Social Media,
Advertising, Web Development, and has finally settled in a Product Management
role. While still in high school, she helped give XY Website UX tips, and helped
run booths at WonderCon in Anaheim, CA. As Arie's daughter, she has QA'd his
projects since childhood, and has enjoyed getting to learn the ins and outs of
company management and growth!
Jordan received her Bachelor's degree from the University of Chicago in 2018.
Fun Fact: Jordan is an avid gamer, with her all-time favorite being
World of Warcraft! At the moment, she's been playing a lot of Red Dead
Redemption 2 and Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
Ricardo Alcazar – Production
Baler? I hardly know her!
Ricky brings his process engineering skills to XYO. He went to City College and
UCSD, studying Software Engineering.
Ricky founded the app "Foupon", an app that locates coupons for restaurants
locally, in 2018.

Fontayne Fuga – Assistant Manager
The only man with the strength of a superhero wrapped in 67 rolls of packing
Fontayne is a local resident in San Diego, growing up in the eastern county city
of Spring Valley. At a young age, Fontayne played sports such as football,
baseball, basketball and soccer. Freshman year of high school, Fontayne was
selected to play on the varsity football team. After graduation, he went on to
attend a community college in Riverside County at Mt. San Jacinto where he then
excelled physically and academically culminating in a scholarship to North
Dakota State University.
The next stop in Fontayne's college career was at a smaller school, Valley City
State University. After spending 3 years of attending Valley City State,
Fontayne then decided to pack his bags and head back to San Diego.
At this point, he started his career working in the self storage department in
maintenance for several months where he ascended to Storage Consultant
Searching for a better opportunity, Fontayne found XYO. His career with XYO began
as fulfillment associate but within 5 months, he was promoted to Logistics
Fontayne likes to spend his free time with his two boys, Braysen and Tayden. He
also enjoys working out, hiking or being at the beach.
